MWC 2014: Huawei ushers in new LTE devices

China-based vendor Huawei is showcasing an array of LTE-enable devices at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, including a 4.5-inch smartphone, 8-inch tablet, , 7-inch tablet/smartphone hybrid, and a smart bracelet equipped with a.4-inch flexible OLED screen.
The 4.5-inch Ascend G6 smartphone, which sports a similar outer design as its Ascend P6, is equipped with a 1.2GHz CPU, 8-megapixel camera and NFC capability, and is priced at EUR249 (US$342) unlocked.
The 8-inch MediaPad M1 tablet focuses on audio and video performance and is powered by a HiSilicon 1.6GHz CPU and offers up to eight hours of video playback. The MediaPad M1 will be available soon, said the company.
The smartphone/tablet hybrid, the MediaPad X1, sports a 7-inch Full HD LTPS display, HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad-core 1.6GHz CPU, Sony 13-megapixel Exmor R BSI camera, and is priced at EUR399 unlocked.
The smart bracelet, the TalkBand B1, features a 1.4-inch curved OLED display, and is compatible with Android- or iOS-based devices. It can track and record sports and sleep data and also supports NFC technology.
The smart bracelet will be available in China starting March and in Japan, the Middle East, Russia and Western Europe in the second quarter of 2014, the company revealed.
In related news, Huawei aims to ramp up its share in the global smartphone market to 8-10% in 2014 and 12-15% in 2015, compared to 5% in 2013, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group and chairman of Huawei Device, said on the sidelines of a press conference at MWC.
To reach its shipment goal, Huawei will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Taiwan-based suppliers, including MediaTek, Foxconn/FIH Mobile, AU Optronics (AUO) and Innolux, Yu said.
